Our family cannot say enough good things about what Howard brought to our mother’s burial service and subsequent celebration of life. From an unexpected passing when half the far-flung immediate family had Covid (with a graveside service on the coldest, windiest of January days) to a sunny late spring day six months later, Howard was there with just the right words and information.
​
Despite pre-arrangements with a funeral director, Howard was invaluable with reminders of key decisions: thorough discussion of possible prayers for each event, details of the flow of events, even a reminder about table menus! He brought an uncommon warmth to all of this. We are still hearing wonderful comments months later from people who were at the memorial or watched the video.
​
It is hard to believe that he did not know our mother, given the detailed knowledge that he brought to both ceremonies. The depth of preparation was impressive -- learning all the family names as well. And Howard injected just the right amount of humor in his remarks at the celebration of life. He did everything he said he would -- and more -- on time and on budget.

We are truly grateful to Howard for his role in honoring our mother. We recommend him wholeheartedly, and without reservation.

My father’s funeral wishes were simple…family only, graveside service with stories and memories to be shared by loved ones. He wasn’t an overly religious man and did not have any recent connection to a temple or rabbi. While we wanted to honor his wishes, we realized we knew nothing about organizing and conducting a funeral service and needed someone to bring structure to the ceremony. We were introduced to Howard Breslau as someone who could fulfill the role of officiant.

From the first minutes of our introductory call through the conclusion of the service, we knew we had chosen the right person. Howard was warm, professional, knowledgeable, and flexible. He took the time to understand what we (and my father) wanted and made insightful suggestions. My father always loved the bagpipes and we hoped to have a piper at the service, but we had no idea how to accomplish this. When Howard learned this, he secured a piper on very short notice. The service was perfectly executed, combining our wishes with the appropriate level of religious formality. As my mother said, “The service was wonderful. Dad would have loved it.”

Howard has been very helpful to my husband and me in our funeral-related pre-need planning. Originally, I sent out a message to a listserve, to which we both belong, asking if anyone had two plots to sell at a specific cemetery. I got several responses including one from Howard suggesting a specific broker who could be helpful. That broker turned out to be excellent and, although we didn’t purchase the plots from him, we were grateful for his help.

In subsequent phone conversations with Howard, he answered our questions about pre-planning, including how to choose a funeral home, what services are best selected there, other services provided by the cemetery, and many more. He was both knowledgeable and generous with his time. We found the whole process quite confusing with sticker shock regarding the costs, and the many pieces that needed to be considered. Howard made the journey much clearer and easier.
