FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Sacred Traditions Funeral Concierge?
We are a unique concierge firm providing individuals and families with trusted guidance and support in navigating and implementing all facets of the funeral planning process.

From planning and service coordination and officiation to post-funeral family care, we provide compassionate, personalized assistance with the overwhelming details before, during, or after the loss of a loved one.

How is Sacred Traditions different from a funeral home?
We do not sell caskets or run chapels and we are not funeral directors. Instead, we work in collaboration with funeral homes to ensure your needs and values are met — providing unbiased guidance, customized planning, and supportive assistance tailored to your loved one’s wishes and your family’s preferences and traditions.

When should I contact you — before or after a loss?
Either. Many families find it helpful to engage us before a loss is imminent. We also assist immediately following a loss, stepping in to help you and your family when guidance is needed most.

What services do you offer during the funeral planning process?
We offer personalized services before, during, or after the loss of a loved one and our services are customized to your family’s needs. We can assist with everything from selecting a funeral home and cemetery plots to coordinating clergy, venue, caterer, out-of-town family transportation and accommodations, and assistance in crafting obituaries and eulogies. Working with your family, we can create and manage a funeral service, celebration of life, or graveside service, that reflects your loved one’s life, spirit, and beliefs.
Can you help with Jewish funerals and shiva?
Yes — we have deep experience in Jewish traditions, including creating personalized funeral services in tribute to your loved one, guiding families through meaningful rituals, and preparing for and coordinating shiva through our “Shiva Grammies” service.

Do you support secular and interfaith families?
Absolutely. We assist in helping honor all faiths and beliefs and tailor our services to reflect each family’s unique background, traditions, and preferences — whether spiritual, religious, interfaith, or secular.

What does your “post-funeral support” include?
Following the loss of a loved one, the details can be overwhelming. Working closely with your family, we offer assistance with paperwork, referrals to helpful resources, and logistical assistance. This may include: completing thank-you notes, working with your advisors to submit required paperwork regarding benefits, account closures, organizing digital and physical legacies, disposing of assets, offering grief resources, planning an unveiling, selection of a cemetery marker or monument, and general family logistics in the weeks and months following a loss.
We’re not connected with a house of worship or clergy member. Can you help us identify an officiant or celebrant to lead the service?
Yes. Many families reach out without a current connection to a clergy member, rabbi, minister, or officiant/celebrant. We regularly assist families in identifying and securing a service officiant who aligns with your family’s beliefs, traditions, and preferences – and who will help honor the life and legacy of your loved one.
How do you charge for your services?
Because every family’s needs are different, fees vary depending on the type and scope of support. Some of our services are offered on a project-basis, while others are billed on an hourly basis. We discuss and review all fees transparently during our initial conversation, so you know exactly what to expect before moving forward.

What geographic area do you serve?
Our offices are in Needham, Massachusetts and we primarily serve the Greater Boston and New England area. We are also pleased to provide services, guidance, resources, and referrals nationally, as requested.
